I’ve recently been reading the Gospels and I’m finding them really interesting. Whilst reading Matthew I read something very intriguing. In Matthew 5, 6 and 7 Jesus teaches in my opinion, some of the most important teachings anyone can be taught. I was just amazed at this passage and how Matthew writes it. Reading it made me realize just how incredible Jesus is. The teachings to me are the fundamentals of life and how we should treat eachother. Whilst I was reading, I felt like Jesus was cancelling out the old testament’s teachings, he pretty much mirrors the old testament but updates it. He’s pretty much saying “you’ve heard of this teaching but actually this is the way we should behave”.
I think for all of us it’s been a very difficult year and the past few months have been very challenging. I’ve been reading a few chapters of the gospels each night so I can wake up in the morning feeling refreshed with Jesus love and teaching. Being on our own, probably has meant that we overthink a bit. I’m someone that does over think and it can be hard to notice how well we are doing. Reading the teachings in Matthew 5,6 and 7 really made me feel good because I felt that I was following these teachings. I’ve been following what Jesus has taught and it made me understand that actually I was doing better than I realized. Its so very easy to not give yourself self-care, we get caught up in everyday life and we can forget to look out for ourselves and check on our mental health. Reading what Jesus taught thousands of years ago has really given me an extra feel-good factor. “not everyone who calls out to me, Lord! Lord! Will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my father will enter” Be yourself, show love and kindness wherever you travel, and Gods love will find you. We are all beautiful in God’s eyes and we all have something amazing to offer. These teachings are the fundamentals of life and how we should be to everyone, follow Jesus and show love and God will be there with us.
Finally, remember the Golden rule as stated in Matthew 7 verse 12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you”
