Kintsugi
The Bible is full of people who were weak at times, just like us. Whether it is Joseph’s boasting which led to his brother’s betraying him; the apostle Paul beaten and put in prison for preaching the gospel; or Peter denying Jesus three times, there are fallible people in the pages of Scripture. However, Joseph became the governor of Egypt, Paul’s letters form a large part of the New Testament that we read today, and Peter was essential in beginning the early church. It can be comforting to know that the Lord is at work in our weakest moments, and He has a plan and a purpose.
Kintsugi is this Japanese art style where they take broken pots and then piece them back together, replacing those cracks with gold. God’s glory shines most out of our weaknesses because of the hope that in him we will be made complete, that those cracks emit his light because his grace took those weaknesses to show others that there is hope for a future. Our weaknesses don’t disqualify us from being called but qualify us for his grace. The bible is full of imperfect people entrusted with the perfect word of God. Much alike to us. The world is ready to tell us we’re worthless, a cracked teapot is discarded as completely useless, I mean it can’t do the one thing that you need it for. This is how the world would be ready to treat us, but God flips the script and uses it. This is the beauty of what we believe, that wherever we are, God can use us for his glory.
So, when it comes with being filled with the spirit. We can see that our faults will be used to shine God’s glory, it’s like placing a candle in a broken pot, the cracks show that light. God uses us as we are because there’s no one else in the world. Look at the amount of broken people in the bible, that’s no coincidence. It’s because no matter what, there’s no one other than Jesus who has been complete only to at the very end be shattered into thousands of tiny pieces so that we could be made whole.
Prayer points this week-
- That we will continue to remember God makes us complete through Jesus.
- Pray that we will be comforted in our weakness and God will use it for his will.
- That we will keep finding new opportunities to boldly share our faith even in times of weakness.
