Red Light Seasons

Have you ever felt like you’re waiting for your time to come?

Or perhaps you’ve come close and it’s slipped out of reach once again?

Maybe even that you’re never going to get to whatever you’re longing for and are giving up hope….

This could be your red light season.

A word was brought to the front of church last Sunday which has been on my mind this week.

“God knows you’ve been waiting at a red light and he’s saying that it’s now time for the light to go green.”

And as incredible as it must be to be the person who’s been waiting for their light to change, my heart has been stuck on those who are still seeing the reds…

The not yets…

Not now’s…

The ‘will it evers’…

My red light seasons have always felt like roller coasters. The ups of knowing Gods by my side and has a plan, mixed in with human panic and anxiety – and if that’s you, I want you to know that it’s ok.

Even if you can’t always see it, God is FOR you. He knows you’re waiting. You’ve not been forgotten and he is still beside you.

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

‭‭Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭13-14‬

If you’re struggling in a red light season, here are my three prayer points of this week – my 3 P’s:

  • Patience
  • Preparation
  • Peace

“God I trust you. I know you’ve got me and my situation. Thank you for this opportunity to allow me to prepare for this next season, and grow where I am. Father, please fill me with peace and patience as I wait for my light to go green. Amen.”
