This is the Day the Lord has Made
As I write this blog, I am grateful and joyful for the recent fundraising event at the Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth. It was a remarkable effort by all of us at SYfC and 19 individuals who bravely abseiled down the tower to raise much-needed funds. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported and donated to our cause. Your generosity will go a long way in helping us continue our ministry and positively impact the lives of young people in our town.
The verse from Psalm 118:24 says,
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
It serves as a reminder that every day is a blessing from God, and we should cherish it, no matter the circumstances – even if it entails abseiling down a towering structure!!
I find it’s easy to get caught up in the stresses of life and forget to appreciate the little things. But this verse reminds us that every day is a new opportunity to be grateful for what we have and positively impact the world. We should wake up excited and purposeful, ready to make the most of the day ahead.
One of the reasons why this verse is so powerful is that it reminds us that God is in control. No matter our challenges, we can trust that God has a plan for our lives and will guide us through any difficulties we may encounter. When we trust God’s plan, we can approach each day with peace and hope, knowing we are not alone.
Another reason why this verse is so encouraging is because it reminds us to focus on the present moment. It’s easy to get caught up in worrying about the future or dwelling on past mistakes, but this verse reminds us to focus on the here and now. Each day is a new opportunity to positively impact the world and live our lives to the fullest.
We should also remember that every day is a chance to grow closer to God. When we pray, read the Bible and worship, we deepen our relationship with God and become more attuned to His will for our lives. This verse encourages us to prioritise God in our lives and seek His guidance in all we do.
Finally, this verse reminds us to be grateful for our blessings. It’s easy to take things for granted, but when we stop and think about all the good things in our lives, we can’t help but feel grateful. We should take time each day to reflect on our blessings and thank God for His goodness and grace.
Psalm 118:24 is a powerful reminder to rejoice in each day that God has given us. It encourages us to trust in God’s plan, focus on the present moment, deepen our relationship with God, and be grateful for our blessings. So let us take this verse to heart and make the most of each day God has given us. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

- Joy: Pray for a heart of joy and thanksgiving, even under challenging circumstances. Ask God to help you find joy every day, no matter what is happening around you.
- Purpose: Ask God to reveal His purpose for your life and help you fulfil it daily. Pray for guidance and wisdom to make the most of each opportunity He gives you and to use your time and resources for His glory.
- Sponsorship: Pray for those seeking to raise funds through sponsorship so that they may be blessed with abundant financial support. May their efforts be fruitful. And may they receive much more than they had hoped or expected, enabling SYfC to achieve its goals and positively impact its community.
