Peace

Peace. It’s something we all long for at one point or another – pretty much every day! Amongst the school rush, journeys to work and back and trips out for social events or meetings we can all look forward to a peaceful evening or day off where we can switch off for a few hours and enjoy relaxing, usually with our favourite TV programmes and a cup of coffee.

With the recent events across the world, it may seem that peaceful times are a long way off. With the turmoil of recent Covid restrictions just ending, the beginning of a conflict in Eastern Europe is difficult to take in and process amongst everything else going on in the world.

In the middle of all the conflict and the noise and the turmoil across the world, we can find peace in the only One who doesn’t change: Jesus. This peace that we find in Him surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), reveals the Holy Spirit’s work in us (Romans 8:6, Galatians 5:22) and never ceases (2 Thessalonians 3:16). This peace is not dependent on whether things are going well or going badly, or how we are feeling. It is dependent on an unchangeable God who loves us and cares for us!

This week as we bring the young people of Swindon before Him in prayer, let’s focus on receiving God’s peace. While the media and all the headlines and radio broadcasts around us are trying to give us their wisdom, let’s also be open to God’s peaceful voice. As you join with us in prayer this week, God watches over and gives you His peace.

Prayer points:

-Pray that young people would feel a sense of peace in the midst of anxiety

-Pray for healing and resolution for the conflict in Ukraine

-Pray for us as we engage with the youth we see regularly and deal with the issues in Eastern Europe
