He is Unchanging, Unlike the Weather!
Oh my, the summer gets hot sometimes! To be fair, we live in Swindon, so it’s not really the same as the likes of Spain… and it usually ends up raining half the time. But every now and then we just get a really peaceful day, sunny and hot, but with a slight breeze to cool you down…and then the next day is so much different again. Our weather is always changing and in the same way we reflect the world as God’s creation we’re always changing, whether it’s a varying taste in music, a child growing every day, or someone who can never settle on a specific hairstyle. Every day we change, we’re not the same person we are today as we were yesterday, and it will be the same tomorrow. But in all of this God is unchanging God stands tall amongst our changing lives and our changing world and says, ‘I am the same Yesterday, Today and Forever.’ His love, his mercy, they’re unchanging, no matter how much I screw up, no matter what I do, God is always going to love me just the same. I can go to him just the same. Sometimes it’s not just God’s mercy we need, it’s God’s comfort, or anything we need from God: joy, peace, patience and with God’s unchanging nature, we can trust that he will provide it the same way he does every time in the Bible. Whether we’re reading about David’s unashamed dancing for the Lord, or the times he comforted David during the Psalms. Sometimes it’s really easy to call God unchanging, sometimes when our world is changing constantly, we lose sight of that. I did in September, but it’s not about your current location but the journey you’re on, that’s where God’s unchanging, he’s the same no matter what situation you’re in, and you see that once your journey keeps going.
Prayer points-
- That we will feel God with us in our current journeys.
- That we will see God within all our situations we face in life.
- That we will see God’s unchanging nature in our changing world.
