We all need a SUPERHERO right? Whether it’s Lois lane in Superman, Elsa in Frozen 2, or civilians in every superhero movie ever, there is always some who needs saving. I wonder who yours is….

Well when I was younger my dream job was to captain Liverpool Football Club – to score the winning goal and lift the trophy aloft to thousands of fans shouting. Then when I realised that was unrealistic with my footballing skills I set my sites on something more attainable…..becoming Superman…..flying around the city in red speedos and a cape.

All jokes aside, on the morning after when Boris Johnson was admitted into intensive care within hospital so many people seem to have lost hope; like that of those in need within our superhero movies…..and yet we know that there is a glimmer of hope.

We as humans hope because we have a deep inclination within for things to be right, to be fixed, to return to normal, and yet what happens if our normal never returns? We are left with one of two questions…

  1. What do we now do without hope? Or,
  2. What happens if we have been settling for normal, when there is a better out there for us? – Sometimes all it takes for better to arrive is for us to wait and press in.

Romans 8:28 in the message says this…

26-28 Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

Never have we needed a hero more than now, but similarly the whole of humanity has had one since the dawn of time. Jesus is our hope and thankfully He is the author of all good things. If you need goodness in your life – then now is the time to look to him.

Over the next few days lets look more all the fervently to him.

Pray for:

  • Those who are lonely at home and need a touch of God’s goodness.
  • Those suffering from anxiety and depression – that God will give them peace in their heart today – a peace that far passes human understanding.
  • Those who’s homes are not happy places, were abuse takes place and oppression reigns. Lord would you break through into these dark places.
  • For Boris Johnson as his body fights the coronavirus infection.
  • For Christ’s hope to reign over this country.
