What is The Big Weekender?
The Big Weekender is a fun weekend away for 11-18 year olds and their youth leaders from churches across Swindon and Gloucestershire to explore faith and build community. This year Swindon Youth for Christ and Youth for Christ Gloucestershire are combining their residential weekends to make it bigger and better! The weekend will include playing games (they might get messy), engaging worship, asking big questions, sports, delving into the Bible and taking part in a variety of other fun activities together. Weather permitting, we might have a campfire. The weekend is aimed at anyone aged 11-18 who wants to grow in their faith or learn more about life’s big questions.
Why The Big Weekender?
When we are faced with so much change, where can we place trust? On what can we build firm foundations? The Big Weekender will give you the space to consider all these things whilst having great fun. You will get to know others in your youth group and meet groups from churches across the region. You might meet people from school whom you didn’t know went to church. You might make new friends.
The team at Youth for Christ know the challenge of being a young person trying to explore faith and serve Jesus. While following Jesus can be challenging, we also believe it can be fun and exciting.

The Venue
We will be staying at The Poplars near Ledbury. The Poplars has en-suite bedrooms. No wet tents and cold muddy showers here! You will share single sex rooms and wherever possible, with
young people from your own group. Room sizes vary between six and fourteen young people per room. In order to save you money, bedding is not included in the price, and therefore you will need to provide your own sheets, duvet cover and pillow cases.
With most spaces being on the ground floor, disabled access is good.
What do I need to know?
Who: Anyone between the ages of 11-18 year (school years 7-13) who come as part of a youth group with their youth leaders. If you have no youth group to come with, you can come without a leader but we would ask for an email to be sent to office@yfcgloucestershire.co.uk to ensure we have adequate leaders to support you.
When: Friday 24th—Sunday 26th February 2023
Cost: Early Bird £80 by 15th November 2022
Regular Price £90
The cost includes food, accommodation and activities.
Where finance is a real challenge for you, we would request you contact your local Youth for Christ Centre in confidence, to discuss how we can help. We would not want a young person to miss out on finance alone. We will work with you to see how this can be overcome.
